Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in West Nile

In a remarkable demonstration of partnership and purpose, Vantage Communications Limited has joined forces with WIBAS to support the economic empowerment of local businesswomen in the West Nile and Lango regions. This initiative, in partnership with MOCAD and Wilio Trains, is proudly sponsored by Post Bank and the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development through the GROW Enterprises for Women program, as well as DFCU Bank.

Together, we embarked on a multi-faceted engagement designed to equip women entrepreneurs with the tools, training, and financial access they need to thrive. Through digital literacy workshops and mentorship led by WIBAS, participants learned to harness technology to streamline operations, enhance market reach, and manage finances with confidence. Working alongside MOCAD and Wilio Trains, the program integrated tailored business coaching into the day-to-day realities of these women, ensuring the lessons gained could be immediately applied.

Crucially, Post Bank provided access to its Wendi mobile wallet platform—a transformative solution for financial inclusion across the West Nile region. Over 7,500 SACCOs and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) are now able to transact, save, and access credit through Wendi, even on basic mobile phones, supporting the very communities these women serve ( pmldaily.com+6nilepost.co.ug+6softpower.ug+6.) Through this collaboration, businesswomen have taken another step forward, gaining access to essential capital and support networks that help them scale operations and secure their financial future.

The Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, operating via the GROW Enterprises for Women initiative, ensured strong alignment with national goals. Their oversight guaranteed that each component of the program was purpose-built to address the specific challenges faced by women in these regions, from boosting digital skills to navigating regulatory and administrative hurdles.
