The Award One featured the remarkable Zubeda Hassan Sakuru, the dynamic CEO of Simba Football Club. At just 26 years old—and a former Member of Parliament—Zubeda is a brilliant role model for young women across the East African Community (EAC).
Witnessing the surge of young women stepping into leadership roles in the sports industry was truly uplifting. Africa is brimming with extraordinary sports talent, and the women’s football league opens the door for young African women to dream big and chase their ambitions. Zubeda informed us about the impressive salaries within the Women's league—her goalkeeper from Uganda earns approximately USD 6,000 per month, outpacing some master's degree holders. It’s a testament to the incredible potential in sports and entertainment as Africa’s next big frontier.
